Worshipful Company of Dyers 13 - Dowgate Hill

The Dyers Guild existed in the 12th century for members of the dyeing industry. Henry VI gave them their charter in 1471.

The original company hall was near London Bridge but destroyed in the Great Fire. A new hall was built in 1839, the third to stand on this site.

Nowadays, the company is involved in the development of dyeing techniques.

Along with the Vintners Company, the Dyers are involved in the care of swans on the River Thames and take part in the annual Swan-Upping ceremony.
